Donald Eugene "Speedy" Jackson, 71, of Du Quoin, passed away at 12:40 A.M., Monday, April 18, 2005 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.
Speedy was a roof bolter for the coal mine.  He was a member of the First Christian Church in Du Quoin.  He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war.
He was born May 26, 1933 at Du Quoin, the son of Gertrude Jackson and step-father Lee Speers.  He was raised by his grandmother - Pearl Jackson.  He had three step-sisters and three step-brothers.
He married Louise Heape on July 11, 1964 at Du Quoin, and she preceded him in death on May 7, 1995.
He is survived by two daughters - Linda Taylor and husband Jack of Du Quoin and Shirley Kiefer and husband Gary of Du Quoin, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his mother, step-father, wife, and step-son - Fred Phillips Jr. 
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 20, 2005 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Dr. John Lewis officiating.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 P.M., Tuesday at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin.
Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Du Quoin.
Friends may make memorials to the American Heart Association and will be accepted at the funeral home.
